Desire Path

375.00

This piece was handwoven on a notch-loom I made myself with a wool and cotton yarn palette that felt like both spring and fall in Charlottesville, VA. These seasons are my favorites for walking around town because the weather is perfect. Often I can't help but pick up interesting things, including bottle-caps. None of the bottlecaps in this piece were painted, they are all as they were found, and hand-sewn to the weaving.

A "desire path" is a path created by people or animals as the most efficient path to get somewhere, often separate from roads or sidewalks. I follow (and help create) desire paths often when I walk around, and feel like I am coming to know the people who live here better by following their footsteps and picking up the things they leave behind.

Wool and cotton yarn, found bottlecaps, canarywood dowels.

This piece has shown at Second Street Gallery, Charlottesville, VA.

Shipping within the U.S.A. is included in this price. For international shipping, the artist will contact you about any additional cost.
