Voices of Color

575.00

This piece came from a fierce desire to protect the people of color in my life, especially in the wake of August 12th in Charlottesville. I am still trying to process what I witnessed that day. This past year has really accentuated the overwhelming weight of the white voice in this country - how unfortunately loud it is. I would like to use my loud, privileged voice to draw awareness to the unsustainable and unequal distribution of power in this country.

Embroidery thread, cotton and wool yarn, reclaimed leather and fabric, acrylic paint on canvas.

Half of the profits from this piece will be divided between two organizations:

Southern Poverty Law Center: $144 (1/4 of profits)
International Rescue Committee: $144 (1/4 of profits)

This piece has now hung in the McGuffey Art Center and Second Street Gallery, both in Charlottesville VA.

Shipping within the U.S.A. is included in this price. For international shipping, the artist will contact you with any additional fees.
